6 Favorite Fall Décor Tips

September 7, 2018

Fall is one of the most beautiful and busiest times of the year. With the seasons changing and the holidays approaching, don’t “fall” behind on your décor by trying out our six favorite easy fall décor tips. It’s easy to get creative with stuff you already own or invest in simple new décor items that will last for seasons to come.

Get Creative with Candles

Candles are a staple for any type of décor, especially in the fall and winter. Make them both functional and trendy by wrapping them in cinnamon sticks to give them a fall feel. Simply wrap the candle in cinnamon sticks, and tie with a piece of twine to hold it all together. The warmth from the candle will fill any room with the scent of cinnamon and provide your home with the perfect fall touch.

Freshen up the Foyer

A front entry is often the hardest to decorate, with limited space used for function over fashion. Decorate and get your front entryway ready for guests and changing weather by adding an area rug and a coat rack. This prepares your home for cold weather shoes and boots, and a stylish place to leave jackets conveniently right by the door. If your looking to make more of a permanent change, add some cubbies to store boots in too.

DIY Scented Pinecones

To add fall fragrance to your home, collect pinecones from your backyard or get them from a local craft store, and wash and dry them in the oven at 200°F for one hour. Next, fill a spray bottle with water and several drops of an essential oil of your choosing, such as peppermint, cinnamon, apple or nutmeg. Lastly, spray and seal them in a plastic bag for 24 hours and decorate with them how you please.

Decorate the Front Porch

Make a great first impression with guests this fall by decorating the first thing they see, your front porch. Decorate with flowers, fall foliage and a wreath on the front door. To make it extra seasonal, line the walkway with pumpkins! But before you decorate with pumpkins, be sure to preserve them by coating them with floor cleaner.

Living in Layers

Add layers to your living spaces by decorating with throw blankets and pillows. Be creative with different sizes, textures and colors to add dimension to your home. To make it seasonal, use autumn hues such as reds, oranges, grays and greens to add a fall feel. Plus, it’ll make your space cozy and comfortable as the weather gets colder.

DIY Wreath

Wreaths can be used for all holidays and in all spaces. Make DIY wreaths at home by picking up a frame at your local craft store. Weave different materials such as burlap, flowers, leaves, and pinecones into the frame. To make it more seasonal and creative add putka pods, dried fruits that resemble mini pumpkins, that stay preserved for years to come.
