Sturdy Construction

All Shoreline homes are constructed with energy-efficient 2” x 6” exterior walls. Not only do these thicker walls provide better fire protection, they also leave more room for greater amounts of insulation than would typically be used. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, insulating materials are rated in terms of R-value – generally speaking, the higher the R-value, the greater the effectiveness. Homes with 2” x 6” walls, like ours, achieve an R-value of 23 compared to the typical R-15 in standard 2” x 4” walls. That can make all the difference when it comes to trapping heat and improving your home’s energy efficiency.

Nobody enjoys a drafty home, especially in Winter. Thankfully, all our homes feature high performance, low-E Pella Impervia® double pane windows. These beautiful windows are exceptionally energy-efficient and durable in extreme temperatures thanks to insulating argon between the panes, meaning you won’t feel a draft even on the windiest winter days.

Thermostat

State-of-the-Art Tech and Comfort

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “a programmable thermostat is one of the easiest ways you can save energy in your home and help reduce carbon pollution.” When used properly, these thermostats can save you anywhere from 10 to 30% on the space heating and cooling portion of your energy bills. You’ll find one in every Shoreline townhome, giving you state-of-the-art control over your home’s temperature.

You can’t beat our homes when it comes to comfort. All our homes feature natural gas fireplaces with breathtaking stone surrounds. Just what you need for a warm and cozy evening watching the snowfall on the mountains.

Thinking Outside the Box

We know the little details make a difference and we pride ourselves in thinking of the things you might otherwise overlook. Take your garage, for example. The attached garages on all of our townhomes feature statement garage doors with insulation that can raise the internal temperature of the garage as much as 10 degrees. Those degrees will feel especially good early in the morning!

We’ve even come up with ways to keep the coldest parts of your townhome a little warmer in the winter. By spraying closed cell spray foam insulation in typical “cold” spaces, we maximize your home’s ability to cut down on heat loss. Trapping heat will not only naturally make your house warmer, less work for your heating system could also mean lower energy bills overall.

At GCD, we are constantly seeking out new ways to build our homes to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Contact us today to learn more about how we are striving for energy efficiency in our homes, or for more information on how you can be the proud owner of your own Shoreline home.
