Wash Your Windows

If you’re a Utah native, snow, sleet and rain build-up on your windows comes with the territory. Make sure your windows are ready for summer sunshine and wipe them down with a rag and some window cleaner. Don’t forget to wipe down the inside of your windows too, as settled dust can amplify seasonal allergic reactions and affect your window’s clarity.

Get Your AC Ready

With the summer sunshine comes extra warmth. Get ahead of any repairs and have your unit inspected by a professional. This will prevent any unwanted issues during the hot weather, when you’ll need your air conditioner the most. Lastly, it’s probably a good time to clean ceiling and other fans as well with a damp rag or duster. This will keep your air free of dust and cooler than ever!

Get the Backyard Ready

If you have a grill outside, be sure to clean it for any summer nights enjoying the barbecue. If you have a deck, now may be a good time to refresh your varnish or stain. Check your outdoor play equipment for winter damage that needs attention. Finally, trim back any unruly landscaping, especially around AC units.

Prepare Your Entryway

Our winter maintenance checklist suggested door mats to keep snow from winter boots outside. Don’t put those away just yet, as summer brings the possibility of bringing unwanted dirt in from outside. Make sure your family and friends have places to put their shoes next to each door to protect the flooring in your home. This simple preventative measure goes a long way in preventing extra carpet cleanings!

Check the Detectors

During seasonal maintenance is always a great time to check the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Replace the batteries and dust them all of to make sure they’re ready in the event of an emergency. If you have a home security system, dust off all cameras and check lightbulbs in outdoor fixtures.
