Shoreline's Phase III plans carry third-party HERS Index scores of 56 for Peak, 59 for Skyline and 60 for Vista. The scores help buyers compare a home's modeled energy use with a standard reference home.
HERS stands for Home Energy Rating System. Its reference home scores 100 and represents a comparable home built to 2006 energy standards. A net-zero home scores 0. Lower scores mean less modeled energy use.
Each point below 100 is roughly one percent less modeled energy use. A score of 60 models about 40% less energy use than the reference home. HERS does not predict your utility bill, which depends on your home, weather, rates and how you live. A rating belongs to a specific home, so ask for the completed certificate for the home you are considering.
